A glacier that can go from the inside (Mendenhall, Alaska)
The Mendenhall Glacier is a giant ice 12 miles long in Alaska . And while thousands of visitors come to look at it from far, few ever surprised since perhaps more curious angle: inside. The increase in temperature caused the retreat of the glacier, while the melting is carved inside caves, creating a "surreal" world of turquoise colors changing :
To reach these ice caves in the glacier, we must undertake a journey that requires a stretch kayaking, hiking, ice climbing, and of course, encouraged to go into the cave that could collapse at any time. The visual spectacle is as curious as can be seen in these photos selected:
