Many cities reached its peak when a host of major sporting event, and Lillehammer is no exception. This city was home to Norway Winter Olympics 1994 and so will future Olympic Games 2016 Winter Youth.

This city, although not very popular today, is full of wooden houses great and a very quaint atmosphere more than a fan of vintage art will look him fascinating to watch, especially if you take a boat on Lake Mjøsa and the Lågen River. Let's meet some of the tourist attractions in Lillehammer .

Olympic Honor

As you can imagine, much of the land is devoted to the Olympics, especially when these are so close on the calendar, so you will find all sorts of activities and sports sites that make good use of the amount of snow that falls in the region.

It is also very entertaining to see how the tradition is mixed with modern customs, which can also be seen in the architectural structures. ski fans must visit this city at least once in life, because everything is more close and is designed especially for those who love this sport.

One of these is the sports institutions and Ski Jumping Arena Lysgardsbakkene , located within the Lillehammer Olympic Park . What was once of much use for the Olympics, today is open year-round attraction, where they can take a chairlift to the top of the site or even walk a long (really long) stretch to the top and look at how far the ever growing city. It is worth remembering that ticket will be removed to access the site, however they decide to walk, and is an extra price if they wish to visit the bobsled simulator.

Places in Lillehammer

Supporters of history and, of course, enjoy the architecture Maihaugen , the largest museum in Norway and Northern Europe. Hosting more than 200 buildings, most of them from ancient times, and the church Garmo , a traditional building dating from 1200 BC

However, not all is past, as in the residential area will find houses typical of almost every decade of the twentieth and twenty-first century family. For contemporary art, we recommend the Lillehammer Art Museum .

Other highly recommended destinations within the city are Sjusjøen , another place where you can ski, but in this case with a hilly terrain and forest in between. It is, of course, more dangerous, but obviously much more fun and challenging for experts in the field. Those who worship archeology can visit the stone carvings Drotten on the Brunlaug Bridge .

If you want a  holiday in Norway , and enjoy it big in a small place, Lillehammer is your place.
