Towards the east bank of the river Neretva Muslim settles part of Mostar with its white minarets protruding from the old bark, while to the west the Croatian population is settled. Both are linked by a picturesque bridge rebuilt after the destruction of war. The destruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar , in place since the sixteenth century was one of the symbols of the war in the former Yugoslavia.
