Mostar (Bosnia-Herzegovina)
Mostar, Among the most beautiful medieval towns in Europe
Towards the east bank of the river Neretva Muslim settles part of Mostar with its white minarets protruding from the old bark, while to the west the Croatian population is settled. Both are linked by a picturesque bridge rebuilt after the destruction of war. The destruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar , in place since the sixteenth century was one of the symbols of the war in the former Yugoslavia. And its reconstruction, one of the symbols of the new times and efforts to strengthen the union. But even with all the problems mean that Mostar is one of the most beautiful villages of Europe.
Between mountains, cliffs and the blue color of the river, Mostar has notable buildings such as mosques original of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, buildings, Austro-Hungarian Ottoman influence, and above all, the famous bridge. The Stari Most was completed in 1566 and one of the great architectural wonders of the Balkans in Ottoman times. A huge stone bridge of a single arch connecting the two parts of the city and its historic center, with its cobblestone streets and stone.
