We speak of a giant sand totaling 60 million cubic meters of sand along 2.7 miles of coastline, with up to 107 meters high accumulation constantly facing the sea. The Dune of Pyla , behaves like an evolving organism, moving and accumulating sand so that seems to devour the forest there are inland in the Natural Park of Landes de Gascogne , moving about 4 feet each year. The dune, feeds the ocean sand bank off the coast, and interestingly, the effect of human interventions to stop its advance inland dune is still growing in height.
